2024 Smart Vineyard Grenache: epic year for the Smart vineyard in 2024 – it was on song. You may have noticed that a few of the other wines made from this vineyard in 24 have done pretty well for themselves, and this is my take. These grapes came off the 1955 plantings. Harvested on the 22nd of March, which is a pretty typical harvest date – maybe just a touch later than average. Yields were small – I only got 1.5t which worked out to be about 1100L. Handpicked, crushed and destemmed, fermented in 2t open fermenters for 14 days, the pressed off into old large format barrels. This is the most perfumed vintage I’ve seen from this vineyard since 2015. 820 bottles produced.
